How It Works & What It Does
Turnbuckle Adjuster: The hexagonal sleeve in the center acts as a turnbuckle. Twisting it expands or contracts the center rod, which forces the flexible file blade to bow outward (convex) or curve inward (concave).
Contour Matching: By adjusting the curvature, a technician can perfectly match the natural lines of a vehicle—such as flat doors, curved fenders, or recessed wheel arches.
Surface Leveling: It is used manually to file down body filler (like Bondo), smooth out fiberglass, level down weld seams, or blend patch panels.
Finding Imperfections: As it is swept across a metal panel, it instantly reveals "high spots" (where the metal gets shiny from the file) and "low spots" (where the file misses the surface), guiding the metal-shaping process.
